Valentine’s Day is coming up, so we’re thinking about the most romantic cocktails to enjoy with our perfectly pink Manchester Tart gin.
Inspired by the classic Mancunian dessert, it offers nostalgic flavours from the popular tart. Offering an initial burst of raspberry, it then gives way to the bold velvet textures of vanilla and a subtle hint of coconut. All, of course, underpinned by the classic, piney juniper flavour of our Original London Dry.
It’s a unique expression for the adventurous drinker to be enjoyed with a mixer, for sipping or in cocktail innovations. Here are some of our favourite cocktails to get the best out of this flavour (and to knock the socks of that special someone on the most romantic day of the year)!
The Clover Club
25ml dry vermouth
1 egg white
15ml lemon juice
15ml raspberry syrup or raspberry jam
3 raspberries on a cocktail stick to garnish
Add all ingredients to a shaker and dry shake (with no ice) to break up the egg and ensure it is all mixed in.
Add ice and shake for 30 seconds to chill the cocktail.
Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with three speared raspberries and enjoy!
25ml fresh lemon juice
15ml simple syrup/raspberry syrup
3 dashes aromatic bitters/vanilla bitters
Optional: 15ml egg white
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
If using egg white, dry shake with no ice first. Then shake with ice for 30 seconds so the egg breaks up and mixes in completely.
Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.
Serve and enjoy!
Manchester Tart Spritz
50ml Manchester Tart Didsbury Gin (or to taste)
50ml soda water
15ml raspberry or cherry liqueur
Champagne to top up (prosecco works too)
Raspberries, to garnish
Shake the gin and liqueur with ice for 30 seconds or until chilled.
Strain into a chilled wine glass, then add your soda water and top up with champagne.
Garnish with a few raspberries, then drink up.
